Welcome to "Box Office Battle," The Fly's weekly preview projecting what the top films will be at the box office this weekend.

US OPENS THIS WEEKEND: Jordan Peele's thriller "Us," the writer/director's follow-up to 2017's smash hit "Get Out," opens this weekend at 3,700 theaters, and has already grossed $7.4M in Thursday night previews. The film from Comcast (CMCSA, CMCSK) subsidiary Univeral is expected to domestically gross in the range of $50M-$60M, up from the initial industry forecast of $45M-$50M.

REST OF TOP FIVE LOOKING THE SAME: Disney's (DIS) latest Marvel superhero film, starring Brie Larsen in the title role of "Captain Marvel," has already grossed over $800M worldwide, and is expected to earn an additional $37M in its third weekend at theaters in the U.S. Also still in theaters are Viacom (VIA, VIAB) subsidiary Paramount's animated release "Wonder Park," Lionsgate's (LGF.A, LGF.B) release of CBS Films's (CBS) romance "Five Feet Apart," and Universal's animated "How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World," which are expected to round out the weekend's top five.

OVERALL PROJECTIONS:

1. Us: $50M-$60M

2. Captain Marvel: $37M

3. Wonder Park: $9.5M

4. Five Feet Apart: $7.5M

5. How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World: $6M
